Suzanne Smith has been a nurse for ten years, fulfilling a dream she has had since junior high. Six of those ten years has been invested at PineCrest with beginnings as a Charge Nurse after graduating from Tyler County School of Licensed Vocational Nursing. Before long, she found her perfect fit in Memory Care where her passion really came alive. She has since been promoted to Assisted Living Nursing Supervisor where she has developed a family like bond with each and every elder. Smith says, “I love taking care of Memaws and Pawpaws.”
“Smitty”, as the residents refer to her, is the mother of two, Blake (26) and Makenzie (23). She is also the grandmother of Bryson James, who makes frequent visits to PineCrest where he has a multitude of “adoptive grandparents.”
Hannah Pierce, Healthcare Administrator, shared this about Suzanne, “She is a natural caretaker. She is often one of the first faces you see upon entering Memory Support or Assisted Living. She is greatly respected by those she works with because she is always willing to share her vast knowledge with others. The best thing about Suzanne is how well she loves the elders. This award and recognition couldn’t have been bestowed on a more worthy person!”
